![]() It focuses are areas of Star Wars that aren't totally involved in the war. 3 were planned, 2 are currently available.Įdge of the Empire is playfully called the Han Solo set, but it is more than that. Not to be rude but this was posted at least once before, in the sake of not being rude I am reposting without edits my previous post. I'm on break on my phone at work so I can't be as thorough as I'd like but I hope that helps! PM me if you have more questions than the fine folks here can answer, I'm a fan of this system and love getting people into tabletop in general! ![]() If someone wants to be a race in AoR for their bounty hunter in an otherwise EotE game, zero extra work needed. If you want to any rebels but one party member has EotE and wants to be an ex-smuggler, he can roll a smuggler (from EotE) as part of an AoR party. Here's where the cross compatibility comes in. If you want to start as rebels already, start with AoR. In that case, start with EotE and gradually migrate to AoR. The most common progression would be for scoundrel and freelance types to start independent and eventually join the Rebellion. Slight difference in mechanical options, vast difference in flavor for those that will take advantage of it. One learned on the streets and starlanes, the other at a rebel boot camp or Imperial academy. Their skills aren't identical but they often share talents. The ones in AoR are flavored like soldiers, commandos, spies. The EotE soldier types are flavored more toward mercenaries, goons, thugs, bounty hunters. I think of them as one system with differences in careers (classes) and slight differences in party mechanics (Obligation or Duty).įor example, both books have soldiery types, but they're not identical. The math is the same, the stat blocks for Stormtroopers and Y-Wings are the same. In short, it's not just that the games are compatible, it's that they're 95% identical. Rhino's comment is great, and this is a common question. Is it best to use those or can we jump in to the beginner game with our own characters? I know a lot of the people are looking forward to playing as their own character. I've noticed the starter sets come with pre-fabricated characters. What do YOU recommend as our progression? Sticking to Edge and integrating Age later on? Jumping right into Age and integrating Edge later on? If there is a species exclusive to Age, could one of us create a character from one of those species while still playing Edge? are we better to get through all of the Edge campaigns that we are interested in before hopping over to Age, or can we swap between the two games back and forth with the same characters? If we were to create characters in Edge, would we be able to use those same characters in Age campaigns later on down the line? I've seen FFG describe the games as 100% compatible, but as a bunch of newbies I'm a little overwhelmed as to what that means exactly. I was set on picking up the Edge of the Empire Beginner Set and eventually the Core Rulebook, but now I'm noticing Age of Rebellion, which looks equally cool. None of us have played an rpg before though we are all board gamers and video gamers. Thinking of starting a new game with a new group of players.
